Born in Pennsylvania with ancestors being some of the first settlers of Pennsylvania and personal friends with William Penn. Both paternal ancestors have numerous Revolutionary War patriots. One direct ancestor participated in the Boston Tea Party.

Began searching for ancestors in the 1960's after getting a small scrap of paper with some names and notes on it. In the 1970's attended classes given by the author of "Write it Right." The claim was made that by the year 2,000, it would be more difficult, if not impossible to trace your roots because of the sheer volumn of information. The rapid development of compters and the internet proved that to be totally incorrect. Initially, did extensive research at the National Archives in Washington, D.C.
